Here a md 421 from the first series of this legendary mic. The first series went up to serial number 17500 (a guess close to reality) and featured a different head assembly that does not fit later models. The capsule itself seems to be different as well: it gives a smoother sound in my opinion. These old capsules seem to last longer i only encountered a bad one once (and that one was completely dead). Of the later capsules i have quite a few lying around with no bass or some distortion.

So here again a great capsule in a shabby housing: there is some decoloration in the grey plastic and the standard cracks with this model which have been filled with 2-component filler. These cracks do not weaken the construction: they appear because the grey plastic was moulded over a zinc- cast core that holds the connector and shields the signal. Zinc and plastic expand at different rates so most of the first series md421 show that defect.

This one has no serial number but judging from what was left of the connector it was one of the first ten thousand. A stand adapter is not included.

For a stand adapter i suggest a cheap chinese one - as shown in the first picture. The sennheiser stand adapter i do not like it in any case should not be used with this mic. You may return this microphone within two weeks after receipt. If you do not want it for any other reason you will have to pay.
